High reliability of the embedded system means the system has characteristics of high safety & security, high availability, high dependability, high maintainability and high robustness. Since embedded technique frames at very fast speed, embedded computer have come to pervade every aspect of people's lives. But for some key applications, such as weapon control, classified communication, battlefield monitoring and space probe in military, industrial control, life monitoring and cash settlement in civilian field, the reliability of ordinary embedded system is still far from enough. For the sake of meet the request of high reliability, we have to adopt some especial design technology.This paper aims at the realization of embedded system hardware that satisfies the request of high reliability. And it has analysis and research of the construction of embedded computer system, embedded processor and the structure of the modern embedded system. Based on the work, we finished the research and design of the HRECS (High Reliability Embedded Computer System)'s hardware that based on the microprocessor S3C44B0X.In the process of designing we adopt some key techniques. There are ARM board redundancy technique, high security technique, power system redundancy technique and main board management technique. Application of the above key technical has played an important role to ensure the high reliability of the system.For testing the hardware of HRECS'ARM board, and to facilitate the software developer to design application software base on this hardware platform, we also designed ARM board testing software, for testing the main component on the ARM board, and we give the low level hardware driver in function format.
