The ventilator (or anesthesia ventilator) is necessary to save the patients in modern hospitals. It often plays important roles in delaying the patient's life and buying time for later treatments. According to the different treatment purpose, the machinery of ventilator provides breath support for those patients who are in trouble of respiratory embarrassment. So it is widely used in the emergency room, operating theatre, ICU and other breath treatments.In recent years, along with the development of computer technology, the intelligence of ventilator is developed continuously. The developing process of ventilator, which is turned from the simple machinery control to the computer control, is a process that the control of ventilator becomes more and more intelligent. Along with the continuously developing of the electronics and machine technique, the function of ventilator attains perfect, and its application becomes more and more expanded. Many late-model ventilators which are controlled by microcomputer are applied to clinical medicine.Currently, in the modern hospital, there are several ventilators used in one section such as ICU. In the meantime, with the development of its digital function, these ventilators can be connected to a central computer conveniently. The important parameters, trend diagrams and alarm events of a ventilator can be delivered to the server in time by the network which can carry out the real-time monitor of the ventilator parameters and patients' information, thereby we can know about the condition of each terminal, at the same time the data can be managed dynamically and centrally, moreover it can be a basic part of the medical treatment system.In the meantime, all the data of clinical treatment can be analyzed by means of medical statistics, which can help people studying the treatment method and means of various diseases. It is advantageous to the treatment level of hospital, and can promote the development of medical science.This subject lays emphasis on the development of software. The main purpose is to study how to connect these ventilators distributed in various rooms to a central computer by their digital interfaces and to show the information on the remote monitor. According to the clinical request, we establish a convenience ventilator network monitor platform. By this platform, we integrate many ventilators to a central monitor system which can help the medical personnel use the parameters conveniently.The software mainly accomplishes those functions such as real-time monitoring of the ventilator's parameters, sufferer information management, ventilator information management, etc.The technology, such as Delphi 7 and SQL Server 2000 are used. The computer could be attached directly to the RS-232 connector located on the rear hood of the ventilator while the appropriate Baud rate for communication is set on the machine.
