Wavelength-Division-Multiplexing (WDM) is a kind of important transmission technology in the optic fiber communication. It take two or more optical signals with different wavelengths together with multiplexer at the source, and then couple them into the same fiber to transmit them. So the transmission ability expands several dozen or even to hundreds of times rapidly. In WDM system, the channel space is very small, so it's easy to produce channel crosstalk, and even interrupt the communication. So it's necessary to monitor the performance of optical channel. Research a kind of optical spectrometer use the filter of acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) as the light-splitting element, which is used to monitor the optical channel. Compared with other traditional optical channel monitoring method, the AOTF optical performance monitor we made has many advantages, such as wide tunable range, fast and convenient tunable speed, can be easily integrated and so on. So it has very wide application prospects in the optical channel monitoring. On the foundation of the theory and experiment of AOTF used in optical channel monitor, in this paper we made an operating platform for the monitor on–line of AOTF optical spectrometer with C++. It can be used to realize the purposes of parameter setting, optical spectrum collection, wave form showing and data identification integral incorporated. At the same time, we made a brief analysis for the improvement of AOTF optical spectrometer, include measurement accuracy, temperature control and so on, and after that we put forward several corresponding solution.
