Compare with tradition hardware design method, when use FPGA in digital system design, there are a lot of advantages: efficient, reusable, easy to revise and escalate, low cost. In addition, FPGA also can use for fleet prototype realization. With the growing of digital system scale, the traditional design methods and design tools are not feasible and EDA technology must be used in integrated circuits design. The development of FPGA also depends on the corresponding EDA technology. In summary, the design mode which combines FPGA and EDA technology should be the mainstream for digital system design in future. As far as hardware teaching experiment is concerned, the traditional hardware teaching experiment platform has many defects: low reliability, poor flexibility, laggar content and so on. The platform based on the FPGA and EDA technology can overcome these defects, and there are a lot of IP cores can be used. Therefore, the design of the hardware teaching experiment based on FPGA and EDA should be of great significance.According to experiment teaching principle, this paper designs a set of experiments of hardware design which include three parts: FPGA design flow and basic gate logic; complicated logic module and simple ALU; the application of embedded soft IP core PicoBlaze microcontroller. The entire experiment content is composed of basic gates logic verification, the usage of EDA implement, the design of logic module such as adder , logic unit , shifter and simple ALU, the usage of Verilog and VHDL , and the application of PicoBlaze core .It is expatiated that the experiment process, design principle, realization technology and key points for each experiment. This paper designs source files for each demonstration and each demonstration has been verified on the develop board.
