Laser marking technology is an important division in laser application technology. It is gradually becoming an important marking method because of its conspicuous marking effect and high marking speed. Nowadays, laser marking technology has become a effective marking method for many substances such as plastic, quartz, ceramic, metal and so on. Recently, the technology of laser -marking -on -the -fly has developed a lot, it is a dynamic marking method on the production line, not only enhancing the productivity, but also having the purpose of preventing forging. The technology of marking-on-the-fly scopes several disciplines such as optics, machinery, electronics, computer and sensing, forming a rising technology with all-round capability.In this paper a new dynamic and high speed laser marking system equipped on production line is presented. This system is used for marking the production batch and the production dates on products in production line. In this thesis, the main build-up of the system is introduced based on brief introduction to the basic theory of laser marking. The cause of error of the marking on the fly is specifically explained in this thesis. The compensation for displacement in real time in dynamic marking is investigated. A correction method of the marking on the fly is developed in which an encoder is used for synchronization.During the research, the RF GEM-30 CO2 LASER is chosen to weave the water-cooling,it still has a good beam and long life span. For the purpose of higher speed, the RTC3 board based on the DSP technology and a scanner with a higher speed are selected besides optimizing the software, and a marking speed of 500 letters per second is achieved. The software of laser marking on-the-fly is a special table for our system. The software has a friendly interface. The users can input the laser parameter, scanner parameter and the fly parameter into the software under the guide of the software so that the system can run smoothly. Alphabets and all kinds of special punctuations can be immediately marked when they are input on the interface. And marking vector based image and bit mapped image can be fulfilled on the base of research on the formats of these two kinds of images. The test and experiment results are summarized and all the parameters in our thesis are analyzed. The best parameters combinations are implemented by comparing the marking effect of samples. The purpose of the research is fulfilled. Much prearrangement for the building and adjustment of the system in field is made. A patent certificate has been issued by the State Intellectual Property Office of P.R.C.
