The engine performance test bed is a necessary measuring means of engine dynamic and economic performance. The engine test bed whose measurement precision and degree of automatization can directly affect the test level of the engine performance is a necessary equipment of the engine performance test. The automation of engine test equipment has become the most important methods to improve the efficiency and quality of the engine test. After investigating various automated measurement techniques at home and abroad, a microcontroller-based automated data acquisition and control system of engine performance test bed is given in this thesis, and this thesis put a foundation for the automation of engine test equipment,such as design ideas, implementation methods and development technologies about this practical system will be widely applied and referenced in correlation fields.In the thesis, the evolutive situations of the engine test bed are introduced at first. The principle of engine test bed are analysed briefly. With the understanding of dynamometer's working principles and structures, the signals which should be measured are analyzed. Then the general design of a multifunctional engine test bed is pointed out. Afterward, the lower part including the selection of sensors and the signal processing circuit are designed in detail. According to the system requirement of function, the XC164CS is chosen for ECU, and CAN communication protocol is coded in it. Torque, speed signal are processed and LCD are achieved.The engine is the most representative, complex system of multi-input, multi-output, nonlinearity, time-variation. After comparing the fuzzy control method and PID control method, Fuzzy-PID control method is presented based on the merits of both. The simulation result using Matlab indicates that this fuzzy PID control method can achieve better performance than traditional PID control method.Finally, the automated data acquisition and control system of engine test is operated on the petrolic performance test. The anticipative result is achieved. During the course of design, we have fully considered the equipments' practicability and economy for the sake of a wide spread and use of this system.
