Nowadays, the defects existed in the traffic system have been an significant problem which should be taken into account in China. How to use modern techniques to mitigate the increasing traffic problems is one of the focal points in current researches.In this thesis, firstly, the current development and applications of Agent in the field of traffic simulation are introduced, and Agent techniques have been applied in the traffic simulation. Secondly, The Agent structures for some traffic elements used in the micro traffic flow simulation system and the frame of the simulation system have been built in this thesis. In this system, the interaction model between these Agents are developed. Each traffic element is defined as an Agent with self-control, adaptive and cooperative. Every Agent can get and process the data of the traffic, and can also share the resources through communication. Therefore, each of them has aptitude to make stratagems of the traffic, which makes the simulation system more practical and improves the precision of the traffic control system.The urban intersection micro simulation system is divided into several modules based on the principles of object-oriented analysis and design, and a framework is proposed on the basis of requirement analysis. Subsequently, after analyzing road network presentation and control arithmetic selection, six basic classes are designed. At last, a signal model is discussed and implemented. Thus a reusable and flexible framework of urban mixed traffic micro simulation system is realized. Finally, the traffic simulation system is evaluated by a simulation example which shows that the framework is reasonable and effective.
