There has been news speculations in practice, however, the media has not had a principle of being appropriate, and has not set up a bottom line of journalistic ethics which must be abided by. That is why there are losses in news speculations, making news speculations pretty controversial. The incident of Yang Lijuan is a normal news event, but it caused a typical sensation. This thesis answers the following questions: Seen from the incident of Yang Lijuan, what is news speculation loss under media ethics? How to carry out news speculation?This thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter one is about the literature review of news speculation and media ethics, summing up and arranging domestic researches on news speculation and media ethics. Chapter two is the focus of this thesis. In chapter two, firstly, the definition and category of media ethics are given, then it is pointed out that the media reports on the incident of Yang Lijuan is a violation of media ethics and a performance of news speculation loss. Finally, the author concludes that the news speculation loss in the incident of Yang Lijuan is mainly manifested in such aspects as excessive intervention, adding fuel to the flames and excessive media exposure. Chapter three analyzes the conflicts of the values of media ethics and gives solution method, that is, Bode Schema. The four aspects of Bode Schema are used to judge the media value selection, media category application and loyalty to whose behaviour in the incident of Yang Lijuan. Chapter four explores reasons for the loss of news speculation, and points out that how to carry out news speculation.In the whole discourse, media ethics runs through this thesis as a main line. Research and analysis about news speculation are done with the incident of Yang Lijuan as a case.
