A Study Of The Critical Reports On People Daily (Aug, 1949-Jun, 1956)

As an organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, People Daily has played an important role in the history of journalism since the foundation of People's Republic of China. People Daily, characterized by a monitor and propagandist of the party and government, has reflected the changes of politics, economy and culture, etc. of China. As the representative of the part organ, the criticism and self-criticism of People Daily based on the emphases of the work at that time became the bud of consensus supervision, which brought great influence on the history of journalism.After the foundation of People's Republic of China, Two policies, which were the decision of criticism and self-criticism for the newspaper and magazine and the decision of improving on the work of newspaper respectively, had been devised by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China before the adaptation of People Daily. In this paper, the content is divided into five parts based on the two policies. First, the history and origin of People Daily and critical reports are introduced in chapter one. The content, property and influence of People Daily's critical reports in different policy circumstance are studied in chapter two, three and four. In chapter five, we summarize the general properties and analysis the factors of People Daily's critical reports during the period from Aug 1949 to Jun 1956.
