Image Based Modeling & Rendering is a fascinating technique of modeling and rendering in recent years, and now it is also the essential technique in the field of virtual navigating. Furthermore, it is most remarkable that IBMR can overcome the deficiency of traditional Geometry Baesd Modeling and Rendering technique. So IBMR can realize photorealistic moderling and navigating.At rendering areas of the Large-scale Virtual Scene, Panorama and TIP technology are the most prominent Implementations.As an image representation of virtual environment, panoramic has important applications in Virtual-Reality. Panoramic technology is a kind of Image-based Rendering technique.It models the virtual environment using data structure construct from optical image.Compare with the traditional 3D model technique,it has higher performance in rendering virtual scene. The technique of tour into the picture (TIP) is another technique of IBR also.TIP provides a simple 3D scene model, which is only the combination of some billboards and a 3D polygon frame, to generate gratifying high-quality 3D animation.By that technique, the scene model is constructed from only one single image that is allowed viewers tour into the scene and achieve the animation effect with a certain degree of satisfaction.In this paper, we studied the integration of Panorama and TIP technology, broke the ancient TIP's monotone, expanded the depth of the panorama at the same time; make the large-scale virtual Scene Rendering livelier, the virtual world more colorful. Using OpenGL and Microsoft Visual C++, based on the method of characteristics, we implemented the seamless rendering between TIP and Panorama.The thesis researches and discusses the problem of Integration of Cylinder Panoramic and TIP technology, first get part of image from Cylinder Panoramic, then using the TIP technology to create the background's model and foreground's model for 3D virtual scene.User can enjoy the 3D virtual scene meanwhile browse the Cylinder Panoramic scene. According to based on the characteristic lines method, we achieved the transition from Panorama to TIP model, then smoothly connected to the next Panorama model.In addition, ueing the deformation of TIMP(Tour into Multiresolution Picture),through a multi-level model,reduced the amount of calculation,and enhanced 3D scene rendering speed, thereby improving effectiveness of the system. And illuminated the key point of the process, like Relative Depth Calculation, transparency, and the remove of international part of panorama, used practical work to improve the integration of technology.Base on the theory, we achieve the VR system-- Tianjin Ancient Culture Street VR system- combine with Cylinder Panoramic technology and TIP technology.The system create three-dimensional scene from ordinary Cylinder Panoramic image for viewer, and make viewer to be personally on the scene.
