Development Of Bluetooth Application

Bluetooth is a low cost,low power ,short-range radio technology intended to replace cable connections between cellphones,PDAs and other portable devices. Bluetooth technology is an opening global specification .The Bluetooth SIG is responsible for further development of the Bluetooth standard. Sony Ericsson,Intel,IBM,Toshiba,Nokia,Microsoft,3COM and Motorola are some of the companies involved in the SIG. .Microsoft supports Bluetooth in their Microsoft Windows Operationg System,hence,Bluetooth software is made available to the vast majority of the desktop software market. Bluetooth is not a new technology,however, developping Bluetooth applications in Java MIDP platform is a new technology.Java APIs for Bluetooth Wireless Technologh(JABWT) was defined by JCP JSR-82 to develop Bluetooth software in Java MIDP platform. The main work of this thesis is to introduce the background of Bluetooth technology. The technology characteristics of Bluetooth system and its wide applications are presented. Then the software structure and profile of the Bluetooth technology are described. The thesis has descripted the main structure of Bluetooth ,expatiated on how to develop Bluetooth application with JABWT,and give a detailed analysis and in-depth study for RFCOMM. A simple Bluttooth application is developed with RFCOMM.
