The airborne multi-target emulator is used to provide the phased array radar with simulated air signal environment where multiple moving targets from various directions, ranges and batches are feasible. The purpose of this emulator system is to demonstrate and evaluate the performance of the phased array radar for multi-target tracking under jamming environment. This paper describes the purpose of the multi-target emulator, then analyses the system design principle. Techniques and composition of the system are also introduced. We also describe the principle and operation of the system, and hardware implementation together with the model design are depicted in detail. The emulator system can produce up to 8 channel/ 32 coherent target echoes with various moving parameters, as well as one particular active deception jamming signal. The design meets the need for phased array radar demonstration. |
