| The packing of 3D models in forming space impacts surface quality, forming time and processing cost and so on in the process of rapid prototyping. The 3D packing system of RP is researched deeply through combing project actual closely and applying modern design optimization methods. The creative contributions may be summarized as follows.(1) In order to make step effect minimum, forming time shortest and material utilizing rate maximum, the multiple objective optimization math model of non-interference in each other entity is constructed based on analyzing many factors which affects the outcome of the layout.(2) Using space decomposition method to produce preferable gene stuct individuals is proposed aiming at the limitation of existing genetic algorithm. The method quickens up searching process.(3) The interfere module of reading STL files is complied by VC++ as developing language and reading and displaying STL files is realized on basis of understanding of the rapid prototyping system interface for data exchange format deeply.(4) The RP-oriented automatic packing system frame of RP is built by object-oriented VC++6.0 programming language based on software development platform of ACIS and HOOPS. The system includes reading STL file module, creating modeling box module, packing module of applying genetic algorithm, displaying layout module and so on.Finally, a simple prospect for the possible application is given. |
