Online game industry is becoming a popular industry in China. State departments have been giving great support to it. However, it has its own negative impact. Violence and sex in online games have already affected teenage development. The problem of online game addiction is also growing. Therefore, some professionals suggest combining online game & instruction together to develop instruction games.This thesis is intended to use Virtools, the virtual reality development tool, to design and develop instruction game based on distributed VR technology. This article firstly analyses current status of foreign & domestic instruction games, points out the defect of them. Then the writer makes an intensive study on virtual reality and distributed virtual reality. Based on further research, the article introduces some typical virtual reality development tools and Virtools which is used in this research.Then this article makes further researches into definition and categorization of game, instruction game and instruction game modes. The writer compares & analyses some typical Wubi typing game in the market. Following instruction game evaluation system, the writer selects practice mode(one out of the instruction game modes)to develop a Wubi typing game "Sonic Wubi" with DVR technology using Virtools game engine. In this article, the writer introduces the process of the game development and the key step of building distributed object. The solution to the development trouble is also mentioned. This instruction game has been test-run in QunYi Vocational School. Combing theory and practice, it gives a deeper understanding of DVR technology & Virtools game engine.Finally, we give a summary of the article and discuss the defects of our instruction game. At the same time the writer give a view on the development of the instruction game.
