The development of the third generation (3G) mobile network experienced the competitions for standard improvement and device development, and will face the intensely industrial competition. To increase the speed of service, reduce the cost for the bandwidth, and improve the quality of the service becomes the essential aspects for the mobile providers. And their focus is the fundamental network construction. Transmission network is the foundation in the telecommunication network. Therefore, construction of 3G transmission network is an important part in the whole 3G network.The current transmission network in Beijing Mobile Communication Co. Ltd. is to meet the requirement of 2G, mainly consisting of voice business. However, TD-SCDMA can provide richer services, including data, multimedia, and voice. The types and features of service have changed a lot. Therefore, the traditional 2G transmission network cannot meet the requirement of TD-SCDMA construction and development.The paper focuses on the research for the TD-SCDMA transmission network in Beijing Mobile Communication Co. Ltd.. Beijing is one of cities in which TD-SCDMA will be set. Compared with 2G, network technology, service requirement, system feature, and interface type of TD-SCDMA are quite different. So how to construct a fit transmission network for TD-SCDMA is a great challenge. Based on the status quo of the transmission network and the application of various techniques in Beijing Mobile Communication Co. Ltd., the paper demonstrates reasonable strategies for CN and UTRAN in TD-SCDMA, and designs the detailed plans for the practical application. The research solves the difficulties that restricted the development of 3G in current transmission network. Meanwhile, construction strategies and techniques for 3G transmission network put forward in the paper facilitate the construction of transmission network in Beijing Mobile Communication Co. Ltd..
