Grid is a new-type computing platform and technology developed with the Computer and Network. It has become an infrastructure for resource sharing and cooperative computing in heterogeneous, dynamical and distributed environment. The Grid Computing is becoming one of the most important technologies of the next IT wave, and promotes new applications. Execution Management, as one of the most important functions of Grid, has been paid more and more attention.In this paper, based on the ProActive Grid Middleware, we havedesigned and implemented the Execution Management System based onthe GCM model. It has solved the problem of the job executionmanagement over grid. We also define the framework of the GridComponent Model's execution management. The grid job has two types:the legacy code job and the composite job. We could wrap the legacycode to component based on the GCM and execute it over grid,implement the running process of the composite job and provide the jobscheduler service. This research is very important and useful for theresearch on Grid Middleware and Grid Execution Management System.Following is the main work and contribution of this dissertation.1) We design and implement the legacy code's executionmanagement over grid and warp the legacy program to component.This approach is based on the Grid Component Model (GCM).We describe the model of the Legacy Program Componentincluding the Legacy Program's Description, the File TransferMechanism, the Adopter, and the Execution Management and soon. It also introduces the implement of this model and presents theperformance evaluation through the example of Bioinformatics.The experiments demonstrate that it has the better performancethan GRS. 2) It provides the ADL language for building the Composite component and implements the composite job's execution management. Then we can implement the cooperative computing over grid. We also design a job scheduler service over grid system. Through the job scheduler and resource manager, we can get the high logic levels on the Job Execution Management over Grid.
