Development And Research On The Mini-Network Set Top Box Based On S3C2410

In the future,the IT industry will become more and more competitive.The market of Set Top Box,flat panel TV,MP3,Digital Camera and Digital Video will be further prosperous.Among them,the development of Set Top Box will take the first place,with average annual compound growth rate of 75.2 percent.Currently multimedia Set Top Box on the market have very abundant basic functions,but the price of most of them are expensive.Furthermore,under some conditions, complicated functions are unnecessary to customers,and just several basic functions are enough.Network Set Top Box is a type of home appliances working with TV set as the display terminal equipment which offers functions such as WEB browsing, multimedia audio playing,information downloading and so on by use of available basic facilities of broadband network to many common TV users.One of its key technologies is to realize the module of network card to connect with the network, and the other is to realize format conversion of video so that TV can be taken as a receiving terminal.In this thesis,a mini-network Set Top Box with lowest cost is Implented and designed.Besides basic function of WEB browsing,it also has the function of audio playing and storaging.Also its price is the lowest among products of the same basically performance.Accordingly,it has very favorable advantages in price competition.This thesis first describes the design principles of this mini network STB,then designs its software and hardware structure,and finally implements this structure.As to the hardware,every functional interface of this mini network STB is designed by use of modular approach.Additionally,hardware design is optimized so that resources occupied are few on one hand and anti-interference performance is strengthened on the other hand.As to the software,the design method of layering to make clear layers of software system which is convenient for extension.In particular, porting and modification of drive software are realized so that drive of every functional module is able to successfully run in the kernel of Linux 2.6.14.In the module of display,designed and writed the init code to driver the display chip;in the module of network,designed the circuit of hardware and modified the drive of CS8900A owned by the Linux core;in the module of audio,designed the circuit of hardware and modified the drive of UDA1341 owned by MIZI corporation, this drive designed for Linux 2.4.18;in the module of USB,this thesis discusses the Architecture of USB in Linux 2.6.14,find the code related to specific platforms of hardware,and modifies it,make it work well on the platforms of the hardware in this thesis.The test of the device shows that the mini-network STB researched and implemented in this thesis can steadily and smoothly run and clearly display,and has good prospect of application.
