With the rapid development of industry, the requirements of seal inclined to no leakage, no contamination and long life, under this situation, dry gas seal had been applied more and more widely due to its excellent performances. During the design course of dry gas seal, the devisers had to draw large quantities of engineering drawings with the fixed data based on AutoCAD, the structure of parts can't be changed easily in the drawings, and for the parts with similar structure, the blue print can't be used repeatedly, so the efficiency was decreased.With the wide application of dry gas seal in petrochemical and the rapid development of CAD technique, a Parametrical Design System for Dry Gas Seal is developed in order to fetch up the disadvantages in traditional design method. The system is developed on the platform of Pro/Engineer WILDFIRE 2.0 with the helps of Pro/TOOLKIT and Visual C++ 6.0.In this thesis, a calculational program is compiled based on working principle and design theory of dry gas seal. Then, the joint method of Pro/Engineer system and Pro/TOOLKIT application, the technology of interactive interface are researched. Thirdly, the technology of parametrical design, the method of drawing creation and automatic assembly are studied intensively. Fourthly, 3D model library, 2D template database and assembly relationship database are established based on Pro/Engineer. On these bases, a Pro/TOOLKIT application is created to achieve the function of parametrical design system of dry gas seal. At last, detailed analyses of interference checkout is given.The system has friendly interface, so long as the user inputs new design parameters of the components, the system can search, transfer and update them, then the 3D models, the 2D drawings and the assembly can be gained automatically, and also the interference checkout is carried out in order to validate the rationality of the design. As a result, the efficiency and reliability are improved greatly, and a foundation for further Finite Element Analysis is lain.
