Development Of High-Performance VXI Embedded Computer

This thesis gives emphasis on the design of high-performance VXI embedded computer. As the kernel of VXI Bus automatic test system, embedded computer fairly determined the performance and stability of the system. For its extremely fast data transmission speed, the international computer standard bus, PCI bus, is used in the design. The high-performance VXI embedded computer based on PCI bus can boost the speed of VXI embedded computer based on ISA bus, and also strengthens the stability of system.It will contribute a lot to developing VXI bus technologies in China and prompting the modernization of national defense to design high-performance VXI embedded computer.The VXI embedded computer combines a standard computer with a VXI 0 slot which can control the functional modules in the VXI system. It has small volume, high speed and excellent EMC characteristics. On the basis of thorough analyzing about specifications of PCIbus, VME bus and VXI bus , and investigating products home and abord, a low cost scheme of high-performance VXI embedded computer is brought forward according to the domestic application needs.To guarantee the performance and stability, this design adopted the ETX-PM module of the Kontron Company as the central component. Based on this CPU module extends many interfaces to provide the operation platform for the resources of the system. In order to impruve the speed and stability of computer, the complex logic of PCI bus toVXI bus conversion is implemented in FPGA. The FPGA logic also accomplished functions for test system integration, whitch are specified by VXI standard, such as bus requester, bus arbitration bus timing and various triggers etc.The actual test and experimental results show that the theoretical analysis of this design is correct, the design is reasonable and every of the technical qualification is satisfied with the requirements of the design.
