Large volume of data, high-speed processing, high-speed transmission and large-capacity storage space are main difficulties of the current digital image acquisition and processing system. Thus the current digital image processing system exists more in the form of image acquisition card, it uses the high-speed processing speed and huge storage space of the computer to overcome above difficulties. However, the system has some weaknesses, such as huge in size, the high cost and the huge power consumption. If this system chooses the form of DSP, not only has strong flexibility, but also has good scalability, scalable and easy to maintain, moreover it can not use any computer system to complete the right image acquisition, processing, and so on. This system achieves the purpose of "Embedded."TMS320VC5509A has some advantages as the hardware core of the system, such as high-performance, low power consumption. This system uses large-capacity FIFO to complete the link between video capture chip and 5509A, avoiding the complexity results from FIFO control. This system can be completed the function of interconnection amoon chips with a CPLD, which can be completed some functions, such as address decoding and logic control. Comparing to use discrete components, the size of the system is reduced. TVP5150 as the video capture chip, embodies the low-power characteristics of this system. Design of large-capacity Flash and SDRAM makes the application of system can be expanded greatly.This system programs for the 5509A with C language in software to complete the work scheduling of the whole acquisition process, this method greatly enhances the portability and the accessibility, the logic control functions are completed as programming for CPLD with VHDL hardware description language. This dissertation makes a pretreatment to the digital images after the image acquisition has been completed, then separates the objects from the background and calculates the coordinate of object images geometric center.Finally this device is applied in the monitoring system.Comparing with the current system, there are some characteristics of this system: lower cost, simple structure, smaller and lower power consumption.
