With the development of power electronics tetechnology, many electronic equipments with power components become electronic function models basing PCBs already from the electromechanical structure body being designed specially. These models are suitable for being tested by needle beds and the architectural clamps on the production line. The virtual instrumentation (VI) has improved development efficiency and reduced development cost.One new kind of automation test system (ATS) is realized under the guide of in-circuit testing theory. The ATS based on VI is composed of computer, in-circuit testing instrumentation, multichannel scanister, signal source and digital acquisitor. The computer controls the whole test process. The in-circuit testing instrumentation is systematic core equipment, able to complete in-circuit testing for analog components such as resistance, capacitance, inductance, diode, triode, operation amplifiers according to the orders that the computer sends out. The multichannel scanister being designed specially can expand these test functions to each node on PCBs. The A/D and D/A model of the in-circuit testing instrumentation can work as signal source and digital acquisitor,and signal source and digital acquisitor can also be programmable general instrumentations. General arbitrary function generator and digital oscilloscope can be operated directly through GPIB and USB, in order to ensure test accuracy, save development time and show the precedency of the ATS and VI.Because of influence among components under in-circuit testing condition, large amount of experiment has been carried out on the basis of discussing the six line test principle, summed up the law affecting the testing accuracy, pointed out several principles for choicing key parameters, shown that tactics be used work effectively.In the end, the instance of testing switch power supply illuminates the operation of the ATS and the testing result.
