The handheld ultra-wideband through-wall detection radar (UWB-TWDR) is anew type of pulse radars based on ultra-wide band technology, which can obtain echo ofcomplex targets based on high penetrability and high range resolution of UWB pulse.This particular radar could surveil and locate the moving target behind the barrierthrough a given signal processing algorithm, which has broad application prospect inthe fields of antiterrorism struggle, disaster rescuing, etc.In this thesis, a data processing terminal of the UWB-TWDR is researched basedon the requirement of the development of handheld real-time radar system.The primary contributions in this dissertation are summarized as follows:1. The basic theory and working principle of UWB-TWDR are analyzed, and theecho module and the echo characteristic based on the characteristics of UWB pulse andTWDR are also researched. Analyzed the receiving signals of the antenna array by thetest, which provide academic supports for the design of data processing terminal.2. An embedded double-kernel hardware platform is developed based on DSPTMS320C6711 and ARM S3C2410, which is one of the most important components ofthe UWB-TWDR. In the platform, DSP is used to realize the localization algorithmprocessing of the moving targets, and ARM is used to realize real-time echo acquisitionafter the pretreatment unit of the receiver, real-time display of the target's orientationinformation, system parameters control, etc.3. A software platform is designed for the particular hardware platform, includingthe bootloaders of DSP and ARM, initialization of system, management of memorypartition, management of interrupt resources, control of data acquisition by using ADC,design of the LCD graphical user interfaces, etc.4. The principle of hidden targets imaging by using back projection algorithm isanalyzed for the UWB-TWDR system, and validated the back projection algorithm inDSP block. Optimized the square and square root in target imaging by using CORDICalgorithm method, which can improve the real-time e?ciency of targets imaging pro-cessing for the radar system.In this paper, a hardware platform and a software platform are designed for thedata processing terminal of UWB-TWDR, and also the localization algorithm is e?ec-tively realized, and this provide reliable elements for the UWB-TWDR later develop-ment.
