Through-the-wall Surveillance Radar (TWSR) is a new radar system, which can detect the suspicious objects without intrusion and surveil the moving targets inside the building or blindage. It can be widely used for urban-warfare, counter-terrorism and hostage rescue.Based on the requirement of the development of TWSR, this paper analyzes the penetrating property of electromagnetic wave to nonmetallic walls. Then the application-oriented method of radar preferences. The working frequency of system and form of sending signal are determined using low-frequency ultra-wideband pulse signal. The echo module of moving targets is established. Target and energy detection algorithms based on likelihood ratio are introduced. The basic and modified methods of time-delay estimation of echo signal are described. Based on the characteristic of system, the antenna is designed with one transmitter and two receivers and the localization principle of TWSR is analyzed. Target localization algorithm and error distribution computing method based on time-only-localization (TOL) are proposed. Through simulation, the influence of antenna baseline and time error to the algorithm performance is analyzed. Based on above works, the three-dimension localization algorithm is proposed.Based on the requirement of system hardware, this paper designs the driver of system PCI data collection card. The basic organization and principle of device driver model WDM based on Windows2000/XP is introduced. How to access the PCI device configure space, physical memory, I/O interface and how to realize interruption service using DDK are discussed. At last, using SoftIce as debugging tool, the basic process of device debugging is introduced.
