Research And Implementation Of IGRS And UPnP Dual Protocol Stack In Digital Home Network

With the development of broadband access, popularity of electric products such as intellectual home appliances and growing demands in the supervision and sharing of home electric products, the concept and application of Digital Home Network has increasingly drawn the attention of telecom operators, IT and home appliances producers. The purpose of Digital Home Network is to break the facts of "Information Isolated Island", realize the resource sharing and service cooperation of various information terminals. Its development will inevitably lead to a worldwide revolution in network communications.The realization of Digital Home Network depends on an open standard, which enables seamless connection and mutual operation of different kinds of devices. After some year's development of Digital Home Network, the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and IGRS (Intelligent Grouping and Resource Sharing) have gradually become the two main protocols. How to realize the automatic discovery, mutual control, resource sharing and cooperative service of network devices and home appliances conveniently has been a focused problem. The concept of Dual Protocol Stack, solves these focused problems; meanwhile, discuss how to fuse the UPnP protocol and IGRS protocol, abstract the common features, tackle the differences and generate a Dual Protocol Stack that supports the two protocols at the same time. The Dual Protocol Stack AV Application Framework is the most important application framework in Dual Protocol Stack platform and the elements to realize AV media application system in the Digital Home Network. We can realize the Dual Protocol Stack Control Point and Dual Protocol Stack Media Server through usage of Dual Protocol Stack AV Application Framework.This paper compares the corresponding layers of IGRS protocol and UPnP protocol, analyses their features in addressing, discovery, description, control and so on, abstracts the same fundamental modules of them, tackles the problems brought by the differences in all the layers, and present a project to realize the IGRS and UPnP Dual Protocol Stack in Digital Home Network. Meanwhile, in order to implement the AV application of Digital Home Network, the paper presents an effective project to realize the Dual Protocol Stack AV Application Framework. This framework presents the way to realize the Dual Protocol Stack Control Point, Dual Protocol Stack Media Server and Dual Protocol Stack Media Renderer, and gives the detailed module design and implementation process. Finally, the paper constructs a dual protocol stack control point and a dual protocol stack media server based on the dual protocol stack AV application framework.
