In mobile communications systems, smart antenna becomes one of the most attractive technologies because radio base stations can greatly reduce interference in the system, it can expand the system capacity, lower the transmit power and improve sensibility by shaping their received and transmitted beams with an antenna array and base band signal processing technology. At the same time, using smart antenna technology can enormously lower the cost of equipment.The principle of smart antenna and its structure are introduced in this paper firstly, and then we describe some familiar channel models and convergent rules. Finally some convergent algorithms such as LMS, RLS and CMA are illuminated at length. After comparing their advantages and shortcomings, we give their applications in future.The comparisons of three main 3G levels is done. It makes us know that the advantages of TD-SCDMA because it applies TDD mode and some new technology such as smart antenna. And we produce the simulation model according it's frame structure and code structure. The simulation shows that the performances of the system improve obviously for the application of smart antenna.In the last chapter, the author introduces some knowledge of Digital Signal Processor (DSP), and in order to research the real-time performance, the author implements the adaptive algorithms of smart antenna on TMS320C5416 DSP chip, and its processing speed is 100MIPS. It is of great value in engineering application and is a good guide to theory study in the future.
