Smart antenna is one of the key technologies that are applied in TD-SCDMA system. By beam-forming, the direction of base station (BS) signals can properly adjust according to user equipment (UE). So the interference of UE can decrease effectively and the efficiency of frequency and the covering area of BS are improved. On the basis of studying physical layer (PHY) standard in TD-SCDMA, the use of smart antenna in the 3rd global system for mobile communications is studied systemically and profoundly in this thesis. First, the principles of smart antenna are introduced; the advantages of smart antenna for mobile communications are presented. Then the standard of physical layer and the frame structure in TD-SCDMA is introduced, the configuration of smart antenna and the model of received signals in TD-SCDMA are educed. The beam-forming algorithms for TD-SCDMA are also studied systemically in the paper, the realizing method of arithmetic of maximal SNR rule is advanced, the capability of TD-SCDMA system of various algorithms are examined. On the basis of lots of simulations, these algorithms are summarized and concluded. Finally, the direction-of-arrival algorithms and TD-SCDMA UE position location are discussed initially, which further reveal advantages of the smart antenna technology and TD-SCDMA system.
