Now is the age of television entertainment, and whilst being hugely beneficial, the negative effects have become increasingly obvious too. In 1985, Neil Postman was responsible for the alarmist talk named "Amusing Ourselves To Death" in prosperous times. Although we are witnessing the development of television entertainment, critiques are also closely associated to it."Entertainment is guilty"is a popular phrase which describes the shackles which the industry has shouldered. In truth, audiences need television entertainment as a form of relaxation for the body and mind. Therefore, the increasingly demand of television entertainment and the problems associated with receiving it have formed a pair of contradictions. On the one hand, practice needs theory to support and instruct. Theorists give the television entertainment more criticism than toleration; suggestions which aren't always practical. Therefore, another pair of contradictions exist- the confrontation between theory and practice.By reconsidering television entertainment both positively and rationally, entertainment can be seen as primarily aesthetic. By examining it from the viewpoint of philosophy, literature, art, psychology, cultural science, sociology and ethics, academically speaking, there is no doubt that the aesthetic field of vision could become a practical tool of consideration.Television entertainment can be divided into pure entertainment and aesthetic entertainment, according to its function. What distinguishes between them is the way it is emotionally perceived. It can be seen that because television entertainment nowadays fails to achieve high levels of quality, its negative effects linger untreated. In order to rate the external aesthetic performance of television entertainment, we must explore the aesthetic connotations and the aesthetics of image, narration, game and documentary. We should also understand that the solubility and liberation of aesthetics is the main characteristic of television entertainment. From the multi-layered phenomenon of television entertainment, truth, good and beauty are perceived as the aesthetic essences. After further studying the aesthetic psychology of the television entertainment, it can make people obtain temporary, unreal, replaceable satisfaction from an illusionary world. And exactly because this kind of aesthetic psychology exists, television entertainment is responsible. The contradiction which aesthetic psychology produces can be resolved by building on these dual characteristics as a foundation, and then by applying moderation principles.
