Being one of the key technology of the design for mass customization, Product configuration design rapidly configurates the personalized product that the customers' requirements satisfies. Through summarizing the current product configuration design that many scholars of countries have devoted to research, they are mainly focused on the configuration information expression and configuration solution. Instructed the concept of the element class and feature, the feature of the element is divided into condition feature, attribute feature, member feature and assemblage feature. Based on the model for product family founded on the Hypergraph theory and through transforming the Son Hypergraph into the element class, the model for configuration is constructed. The constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) that the matter of solving a configuration model is transformed into is settled by the backtracking algorithm. The main content is narrated as follows:First, the information of mass customization and product configuration design is summarized, such as the basic concept and advantage, and so on. Based on the current situation of the product configuration design, its problem is analyzed deeply, then the research content and architecture of this article is brought forward.Second, The theory of Hypergraph and hierarchical structure Hypergraph is introduced. the model of product families is be constructed through the hierarchical structure Hypergraph, During of this process , the matter that the Son Hypergraph has class property is put forward due to the situation that it is divided by the modular standard. The process of the constructing the product families is narrated. Third, The matter that The element class has four kinds of feature is put forward and expatiated detailedly. The encapsulation of the element class is ensured by condition feature. Based on product family architecture model and the matter that the element class is transformed into by Son Hypergraph that has the property of class, the model for product configuration is constructed by the unit of the element. The process of the instantiation of the configuration model is brought forward.Fourth, Problem solving by the configuration model based on the element is transformed into problem solving by the object of the element class feature, due to the encapsulation of the element class, the element class of the configuration model is changed into CSP one buy one, so the scale of solving CSP can be comparatively small. Based on this situation, it is satisfied that this CSP is solved by backtracking algorism. The CSP of the part class, the component class and the product class are being instructed. Finally the process is narrated that the problem solving by the configuration model based on the element class is transformed into CSP.Fifth, the system of the product platform of ZhongQing crane is be discussed and programmed, being taking part in this item the feasibility of the approach to this article is proved.
