Shanghai had been entirely occupied by Japanese since Dec.8, 1941, Shanghai's literature thus ended its "isolated island" period accordingly and began to come into the literature orbit of being occupied by enemy. After an incipient period of silence, Shanghai's literature regained its vigor since the latter half of 1942. An obvious phenomenon is the avalanche of literature periodicals and thereby the literature production encircled the literature periodicals. The literature atmosphere in this period had been quite different with before because of the aggression and supervision of foreign enemies. To make the literature adapt to the need of colonized govern and the The Great East Asia War, Wang's authorities not only constituted various culture control policies and carried them into execution so as to keep away and snuff out any drum beating of anti-Japanese, but also organized "Japanese culture permeation", propped up literature organizations and published periodicals to established a feint of prosperous. On the other hand, most authors could nor resisted the colonial rule directly under the high pressure policies by authorities, but they tried a circuitous opposing way via literature writing. This kind of control and anti-control thus formed the basic view of literature production in Shanghai since Dec.8, 1941.The Wen You periodical that I studied in this paper is one of the mass literature periodicals published in the magazine current since the latter half of 1942. Wen You had two important features that we should give attention to it. First, it was a literature periodical that there were a lot of works so that it could be abundance in historical materials of literature study, and it also had many articles about politics, economy, military affairs, etc. besides literature works that could help us to construct a real society and culture environment in which the literature was produced at that time. Second, it had a background of Wang's and Japanese authorities so that we can study how Wang's culture policies influenced the edition of a magazine and how the writers resisted the authorities circuitous by their writings. Because of the considerations above, the emphases of the paper is to study the environment in which the authors works and how the environment influenced their literature producing so as to try to restore the scramble for literature usage between Chinese patriot authors and the aggressors. There are three parts in this paper. The first one is an impersonal introduction of the basic visage of WenYou, such as its publication and edition. The second part is about its political tendency and its standpoint of literature which emphasizes the undercurrent of opposition under the authority's strict supervision. The third part is the particular introductions of some phenomenon in WenYou that related to the background of the especially era and society. Because WenYou is only one of the many periodicals in Shanghai since 1941, we cannot exaggerate it as a representation of the whole literature development at that time. The selection of WenYou as a study object was its possibility to reconstruct the environment of literature production because of its particularly political background and the character of the periodical. The third part does not try to include every literature topics in WenYou but just selects some special literature phenomenon so as to deepen the understanding of some aspects of the literature development after Shanghai was entirely occupied. The study of WenYou cannot include all the peculiarities of Shanghai literature in that special time, but it can provide more historical materials and study aspects so as to promote the study of literature in enemy-occupied area become deeper and more exactly which is built on the study of many isolate literature phenomenon.
