The Big World In TianDi Study Of TianDi In Shanghai During Enemy-occupied Years

TianDi is first started in Shanghai in Oct. 1943, it is a monthly literature magazine who usually publishes prose, and its editor is Su Qing. TianDi have lasted nearly three years in Shanghai, and in those years, Shanghai is an enemy-occupied city, but we can't see any works sing the praises of the enemy from TianDi, the purpose of TianDi is far away from politics and romantic, and advocates female writing, so TianDi concerns ordinary people's daily life, and have some feminine elements. This is significant to study and know the literary environment and ordinary people's living conditions in Shanghai during enemy-occupied years.The paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter introduces the nature, character, popularity and influence of TianDi. It concludes the nature of the magazine from its works; it finds the character of the magazine from its purpose; it gets the popularity and influence of the magazine from the same period people's comments and criticism. This chapter also concerns writers'mentality. To the officials of Wang's puppet government and those who is close to Wang regime, although they have chosen to go to"the way of peace movement"under the fear of defeat and the pursuit of actual benefit, their principal virtue has been lost, so their heart are depressed and contradictory, in this case, they have to deceive themselves as well as others to console their heart. To those freelance writers who live on writing, public is their"parents", these writers must cater to public's pleasure, then their have secular mentality.The second chapter contacts the times and social background to introduce writing style of TianDi. During the enemy-occupied years, while current politics is chaos in Shanghai, writers are not obsessed with ultimate concern, they start to pay close attention to daily life, then their writing are full of secularization. Under the bad writing environment, writers change their writing styles to against authority, to criticize politics and to deconstruct reality. This takes humor to their works. During enemy-occupied years, writers use prose as a writing style and survival strategy to escape the reality, eliminate their depression and show a pretentious artistic style or a false or exaggerated interest in art, therefore, in the period, empty-talking and nostalgia are the two main styles of prose. As a prose magazine, TianDi also have these two styles. The third chapter analyzes the femininity of TianDi. As we all know, the opinions and views of a magazine editor have inevitable affection to a magazine, the editor of TianDi is Su Qing who have accepted new education of the May Fourth Movement, and have deep self-feminine consciousness, for this reason, comparing with other magazines, TianDi have some feminine color, it publics many female writers'works. Zhang Ailing and Su Qing is the representative of TianDi female writers, on the one hand, they pay attention to the hard living environment of women, and show their deep sympathy for women; on the other hand, they severely criticize the weakness and old bad habits of women. It is significant to promote the waking of feminist consciousness.The fourth chapter evaluates the cultural feats of TianDi, this thesis believes that TianDi provides platform for writers to communicate and reserves historical data for researchers to research.TianDi is only one of literature magazines in Shanghai during enemy-occupied years, this thesis has no means to exaggerate its representative position. TianDi comes into my research vision, just because its special environment and nature can offer historical data and research angle, on this basis, we may restore the literature scenes of Shanghai during those enemy-occupied years. An integer is composed by many parts, through that one by one literature phenomenon which seems to be not irrelevant; the literature research of enemy-occupied areas becomes more and more deep and perfect.
