The project studies the 3-D visualization of the medical images of PET/CT medical images using the forth generation programing language IDL. In this project, the IDL language is used to analysize the PET/CT medical image data interactively, including slices display separately, integrate display and 3-D visualization of the images. There are abundant analysis tools with strong matrix calculating ability for IDL. High speed image display technology is used expecially for analysis of huge amount of datas. PET/CT is the most advanced device for medical devices up to now by combining the advantages of both PET and CT and it can fix the nidus exactly. The combination of PET/CT and IDL will ultimately enhance the development of the medical image technology and make great effort for the medical enterprise.The project analyzes the data generated from PET/CT device based on IDL. Surface rendering and volume rendering are studied and realized. The 3-D images of PET and CT are firstly put into a single interface and interoperation is allowed to operate on aother image by operating on one image. This means much to diagnose in medical. At last the results are discussed, compared and analysed.The principle of visualization based on IDL is studied. The visualization results of this project are analyzed and show that as a visualization toolkit, IDL is powerful with strong matrix handling ability in medical image processing. So the IDL language is suitable for the image analysis for researchers and doctors in image field.
