Application Of Data Warehouse And Data Mining Technology In The Heilongjiang Post Business Decision Analysis System

Since the Post independence, the Heilongjiang Post has carried out some sustained and effective reforms. With the developing of information technology, some of the production systems have been put into operation, such as the producing system of Center office of postal area, the producing and dispatching system of mail transportation, the postal branch operation system, the Express Mail Service information system, the Postal electronic Remittance and Exchange system and so on. These production systems have produced a corresponding computerization and automation in the internal production operation, and accumulated a lot of data of the operation and management, which is one of important assets for the post development and is the key of the business decision-making and management. However, these production systems are isolated, and the dispersive data are not shared. With the developments of information technology, the demand on the management level in the Post has increased. There is an urgent need for the accurate, timely data and scientific analysis, so that it can support the management and decision-making of the Post.Currently, the Heilongjiang Post has no special analysis system of business decision. And the data of management and decision-making are mainly from report forms. Most of the report forms are manually done, and they are reported one by one, so that the information is inefficiency, delayed and fuzzy. Although some departments and special companies have built their own information system, including statistical analysis modules or integrated statistical analysis functions. But these statistical analysis modules are made by the operational needs and habits of the departments. And there is no a unitive and standard statistical analysis method and expression. Therefore, it is important to build the Heilongjiang Post business decision analysis system, which comprehensively using the basic data to analyze, decide and improve management level.Data warehouse is a subject-oriented, integrated, nonvolatile and time-variant data collection, which is used to support management decision-making. Data mining is the application of a series of data warehouse for data mining analysis, and the valuable knowledge or information can be extracted from massive data. At present, the use of data warehouse and data mining technology for enterprise decision analysis has been widely used in finance, telecommunications, electric power and other industries.In this paper the prototype system of the Heilongjiang Post business decision analysis system using data warehouse and data mining technology oriented the status of the Heilongjiang Post is designed and realized. The prototype system can make the scattered basic data which are in the postal production systems to be extracted, reseted and processed, so that it can be used to predict in advance, control in time, analyze in the sequel. It can make the basic data to be collected, inspected, gathered, reported, credited, analyzed and early warned automatically, so that it can be used timely, truly and perfectly to support decision by the leadership and managers.In the design and realization of the prototype system of the Heilongjiang Post business decision analysis system, I mainly participated in the business requirement analysis and system analysis and design. By investigating the financial and business departments in our province, I completed the requirement analysis with other project members. As well as I designed the overall system structure and network structure, and completed the data collection and interface design with other project members.
