It has important significance to get grain flow characteristics and suspension velocity for lowering pneumatic conveying energy consumption and developing pneumatic conveying. Imaging process method is a non-contact testing means based on image processing technology. Based on study of imaging process method measuring technology and analysis of grain flow state in vertical pipe, a new method of measuring grain flow characteristics by imaging process method was introduced.Theoretical analysis and experiments show that it is feasible to study grain flow characteristics by this method. Through the analysis of grain concentration fluctuation and suspension velocity, this paper study grain flow characteristics by using Imaging process method. The obtained signal was processed with statistical and frequency analysis methods, grain flow characteristics in vertical pipe were found out; also suspension velocity of several grain was measured with this way, the influencing factors were analyzed. The research could provide basis theories for improvement of aerodynamic force transportation facility.
