The development of flow velocity sensor has decades of history. Flowvelocity sensor was widely used in the measurement of ocean current, andplayed a positive role in the development and utilization of marine resources.With the research on the ocean and scale of construction of oceanicengineering become deeper and bigger, the technical requirements of oceancurrent measurement gradually increased, as well as the accuracy andmeasuring range of the flow velocity sensor. The common sensor used tomeasuring ocean flow and flow velocity hardly satisfied the measuringrequirements of three-dimensional; long-term and instantaneous velocity atthe same time. Home and abroad, there still is some defects in the measuringmethod and tool. The research and design of novel flow velocity sensor arevery important.Firstly, the background and significance of the research on flow velocitysensor and current situation of the domestic and foreign relevant device areintroduced in detail. Analysis and summarizes the problems of existing deviceof flow velocity. The main problem need to be solved in this paper isdetermined.Secondly, the characteristic of flow around a body is introduced,especially the boundary layer theory. The influencing factors of resistance onbody during the around flowing process are analyzed. Flow around cylinderand ball are summarized and analyzed. For fluid simulation laid a foundation,the theory of fluid mechanics and computation fluid mechanics, then thediscretization method and general steps of numerical simulation and CFDsoftware are expounded.Thirdly, numerical simulate calculation of flow around cylinder and ballis carried out. Simulation value which is close to the experiment value range isachieved. Under the proving of simulation result, reasonable modelcalculation range, boundary conditions and solving methods are selected.Finally, Numerical simulation calculation of a novel3-dimensional flowvelocity sensor is carried out, the different stress state of the spherical surfaceof the sensor with support part and the single spherical surface is compared. Design basis of the flow velocity sensor is provided.
