Nowadays, cell phone has become a communication facility popular with most people, and its short message service is favored by a great majority of people. Since the SMS entering into China, with its increasing permeability and influence, it has become an important window of the expression of public opinion and the government's observation of public opinion after the net work. Compared with other media, it has its unique forms of manifestation and ways of function, therefore, the "SMS event" also has great research value. Based on the "SMS event" as the research object, the full text is divided into five parts. The first part defines the "SMS event", makes clear the research object, and its main characteristics; Part II of the thesis lists six forms of the "SMS event"; Part III and Part IV have analyzed and interpreted the "SMS event" from the perspective of sociology and communications. In the author's opinion, on one hand, the SMS is playing an important part in the promotion of social democracy; on the other hand, the "SMS event" could also lead to social crisis, therefore, a systematic and scientific study of some important "SMS events" has become a part of crisis management of the government; in Part V, the author puts forward a number of countermeasures and suggestions from the perspective of crisis management for some "SMS events" that have greater influence. In the information age, the relevant departments of the government should adapt to the new situations, accelerate the work pace, and take such measures as establishing and improving the SMS distribution platform and mechanism. On the occurrence of the unexpected events, only the public information should be brought to the mass more quickly than the rumor diffuses, the rumors will not spread.
