To make the best of the fast-growing poplar and to create its most additional value, this paper was on the research of technologies of wood processing about how to perform the planar image on the surface layer of the dyeing poplar composite laminates by means of appropriate color collocation of the dyeing poplar, digital image processing on the dealt planar image and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer numerical control. The results of the study as follows:1. To obtain the original digital images from scanning or taking photos directly, the needed image was reached which can be expressed by brightness after removing the noise of original digital images. With the image grayscale three-dimensional image software system was created to get the suitable model. The parameters were as follows: Samples were 6000-12000;the depth were 0-3mm corresponding to the brightness of 0-255 (adjustable in the range of±0.5mm).2. Through a series of cutting tests with different V-shaped tools, it proved that the tools whose angles were between 45-90 had the best effects for the original digital images. To guarantee the cutting quality, the tools need to be edged. For the curved v-shaped tools, it was better that the curvature 3mm away from the edge didn't increase dramatically, otherwise the cutting capacity would increase significantly, which affected the final processing quality.3. Considering the visual effect, the cutting interval in the computer numerical processing should be 6mm (adjustable in the range of±0.5mm) .The cutting parameters in the processing were set as follows: The rotational speed of the principal axis of the tools was 14000rpm; the cutting speed was 1200mm/min; unidirectional cutting. The cutting speed could be adjusted in a little range according to the practice. Considering the character of the wooden material, the route of tools should be paralleled with the direction of fiber in the surface layer of the wood material. 4. Through the study of various processing patterns, this paper discussed four different cutting methods on the basis of vertical cutting method among which parallel cutting method, projected cutting method and contours cutting method could display the better characters and effects of the original digital images. As different processing methods had different traits and stress, the most suitable one was chosen according to people's preference, the environment, sample material and so on. Spiral cutting method could only satisfy the design requirement and show a part of the traits of original digital images. All these needed further experiment and research.
