In this paper, four new approaches estimating displacement in digital imageswhich based on Bayesian estimation, mutual information, M estimation and fuzzy setstheories are developed, respectively. As the application of the new method and Moiréinterferometry, the displacement on the free-edge of the thermo-plastic compositelaminates AS4/PEEK[0/±45/90]7S (56-ply) under uniaxial compression have beenmeasured. Parameter estimation is a discipline that provides the tool for the estimation ofconstants appearing in the models. This paper presents a method applied to measuredisplacement field using Bayesian MAP (maximum a posteriori) estimate. Based onanalysis of digital image sequences, we formulate a Bayesian framework forestimating the displacement. The precision of displacement measurement is 0.02pixels. In the experiment, through a digital image processing system, the images ofthe natural surface of specimen before and after the deformation are captured andprocessed by the new method. The approach is applied to measure displacement andthe singularity of the laminated composite AS4/PEEK[0/±45/90]7S. In the past 40 years, information theory, for dealing with the most fundamentalaspects of communication systems has been made more precise extended, and becomepractical in real communication systems. In this paper, we formulate a new methodapplied to measure displacement fields using mutual information concept. In thecomputer-simulated experiments, the method is validated. The paper also presents two methods based on M estimation and fuzzy setstheories. M estimation is one popular robust technique and fuzzy sets theory is a newdiscipline. These two methods are demonstrated and validated in simulation study. In order to get macro displacement field, Moiré interferometry is performed inmeasurement of composite laminates under uniaxial compression. As mentioned above, new approaches are developed for the displacementmeasurement. By applying the new method and Moiré interferometry in themeasurement of displacement and the singularity of the laminated compositeAS4/PEEK[0/±45/90]7S. At last, the experimental results are presented for theinvestigation of macro and micro-scale properties of above materials.
