Cognitive Support In Visual Ontology For Conceptual Modeling

With the deepening of our army's new reformation, there is some disunity and confusion in the concept to describe the actual world and the knowledge presentation system. This made the bottleneck in requirement analyse, intercommunication and inter-operate, knowledge share and reuse etc. Military concept model is an important technology to solve these problems. Because of the complexity of the military action,the process of concept model is very heavy and complicated. And that will bring an albatross for the modeling personel. So I do some research on the visualized congnitive support for military conceptual model, in order to help the modeling personel to model rapidly, and analyze the model in time, and they can reduce the difficulty and cost of the developing work.This will advance the level of military conceptual model, boost the evolvement and reuse of the model.On the base of analysis on relation between the ontology and military conceptual model, I provide an idea to study the visualized congnitive support for military conceptual model from the angle of ontology view in this paper. I discuss the theory of congnitive support and information visualization by integrating the congnitive science and the computer technology. Study some means for the visualized support centre aroud the modeling software's visualized realization via regarding the ontology as a network structure.The tasks on two layers which base on the ontology is proposed in this paper as follows:1. The graphical described language research:defined a kind of graphical described language, standardize the method in graphical modeling for ontology, provide the common and currency congnitive view.2. The visualized tool study for conceptual model: change and rebuild the open code of protégéto be a conceptual model tool.I developed a Tab-plugin that named "associated information query" tab,which present the associated information of ontology by using the tabular interface.In this paper, we present the conceptual model of air defence as the use case, provide the congnitive support for modeling personel using the tool. We study the elements of the visualized congnitive support, and discuss some means about this area.
