With the development of digital television and mobile equipment, new technology has been proposed to receive broadcasting television programs on the handheld device, such as PDA and mobile phone. DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld Terminals) standard proposes an excellent approach to implement it. This standard is the extension of the DVB-T (Terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting) standard and can offer the high-quality reception for digital broadcasting television and other multimedia service. This thesis has provided the theoretical analysis and practical implementation on the two technologies—TS parsing for multi-protocol encapsulation and time-slicing.First of all, this thesis introduces the general structure of entire DVB-H system based on the DVB-H standard. Then, it analyzes the critical technologies: time-slicing, multi-protocol de-encapsulation and FEC (Forward Error Correction). The most special trait is the distinct format of data, and this thesis dissects a set of different format of data as well as SPI/SI (Program Specific Information/ Service Information) associated with DVB-H system. It also deeply explores the CRC32 and checksum arithmetic.Secondly, the most conspicuous creative design in this thesis is to conceive a hardware structure, which is quicker than software implementation, to carry out the multi-protocol de-encapsulation function. Since this part plays a key role in link layer, a kind of mechanism based a set of state machines is deviced to help parsing packets, which also involve packet-filtering, packet-checking, packet-switch and interrupt-generation.Thirdly, this thesis also studies and implements the Time-Slicing function based a special method which combines the hardware controller with software controller. As a result, this way helps to achieve the timing management and decrease the power consumption.Finally, this thesis also discusses on the perfect verification process on DVB-H link layer, including the simulation verification and FPGA testing. Eventually, the final design has not only passed the FPGA testing but also displayed the real-time DVB-H program through FPGA platform in the lab. |
