With the rapid development of information technology, the method of information processing is varying from by hands to by computers. The water resources management has put forward higher request to the transmission speed and dependability of the information.Establishing the high-efficient and reliable GIS for water system depending on the computer has become the essential demand of social development. The project from"reasonable planning of water resources of Liuhe district of Nanjing city"is a part of water resources managing decision support System.Using water system in Liuhe district of Nanjing city as application object and adopting the object-oriented development methods, taking full advantage of the efficient data management function depending on the programming language of Visual FoxPro, and combining with GIS's component—MapX,we develop river system referral information system and aging assessment system for pumping stations on the basis of GIS.which effectively integrates the property data and spatial data of water systemThe property data and spatial data of the river system referral information have adopted the way of separating management. The spatial-data is used as the system management of the file. The property data exists in relational database. The figure and database are related through the only ID number to realize two-way inquiry. The aging assessment system for pumping stations make good use of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model to evaluate aging conditions by marks and provide the spatial query firstly, which is helpful for maintenance and reconstruction.A new method, named projection pursuit cluster model is presented in this paper.Aging degree of the pumping stations can be determined according to the projection value of each pumping station. The running results show that the system is operated easily, the interface is friendly, the running speed is fast, the accessment results are reasonable, which meet the command in advanced, and the system has a preferable practicability.
