Making use of field bus such as CAN, RS485 may be realized many group nets between the residual current alarm controllers. The group net ability is limited. The communication protocol is also simpler, moreover is enclosed protocol. Every protocol can't realize an interconnection between the firm's products. It is difficult to come true putting supervisory control into practice under a unified environment. With the development of Ethernet technology and micro-controller technology, it is possible to use embedded system technology in the residual current fire alarm system. In view of the present situation, this paper designed and developed the residual current fire alarm system with remote monitor and control based on embedded system technology.(1) The basic principle and key technologies including the residual current production, the cause of the residual current, composition and the application scope of the residual current fire alarm system, embedded technology, TCP/IP, configuration software technology were illustrated in the paper.(2) According to the technique indicator and the function requirement, the overall design of the system was given out. The hardware software overall structure of the system were given out as well. The functions of hardware and software module were explained.(3) The design of the client hardware and software was discussed in detail. The design method and the principle of the hardware, including the host processor unit, the residual current signal detection module, the converter module, the alarm and release module, the serial interface communication module, the network communication module, the watchdog module, the power module were discussed in details. The design of software, including the residual current determination, the serial interface communication, Ethernet controller driver and TCP/IP were discussed in the paper.(4) The residual current fire alarm system was developed by combined the practical engineering project in residenc. The system structure, three-rated protection and the control interfece based on MCGS were designed. Combined the embedded client, the system was puted into the practice movement, and analyed questions appeared.In this paper, the traditional residual current fire alarm controller has been provied the network and can be monitored in a unified monitoring environment. The protocol has been resolved at the same time. MCGS configuration software provides friendly, intuitive interface, easy to operate and use for the monitoring and maintenance staff.
