General Packet Radio Service, GPRS for short, which has high superiority owe to its high-speed transmission and permanent online etc. It is very suitable for the situation that the data are transmitted in time and quickly. With the accelerating of our country industrializing and the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure, the need of computer numerical control (CNC) technology is increasing in modern enterprise. Traditionally, it should put lots of manpower for assuring the normal and stable operation of the CNC machine, which may bring many problems such as high cost of manpower, low efficiency and fallibility. So it is very necessary for us to find a quick, credible and low cost way instead of manual management system. In this paper, we use the advanced GPRS communication technology, which was combined with the remote monitor terminal and monitor center of the CNC machine, it realizes the remote monitor of the CNC machine.This article designed the monitor project based on GPRS communication system with the center of LPC2119 microprocessor, and the MC55 module (Siemens, Inc) was used for GPRS module. The design integrates the functions of data collection, processing, memory and transmission, which also has the function of fault diagnosis and assures the normal and stable operation of the CNC machine under the effective CNC machine management. The system sampled and processed the analogy signal and digital signal of CNC working signals. The signals include the information of collection, filtering and A/D transferring. The finished data will be sent by GPRS module to GPRS net and finally to the watching center of internet.In this thesis, we first introduce the past and present of the remote computer numerical control technology, and the originating, characteristics, development and application area of GPRS technology, and the following three chapters present the design of the overall project, the design of the monitor system hardware and the design of the monitor system software, respectively. The last chapter described the test of CNC remote monitor system.After several debugging and testing, the result proved that the design could reach the expected target, which will be important for comprehensively improving the production management efficiency of the digital control machine.
