Research Of Vertical Retrieval Engine Based On Ontology

With the rapid development of Consumer electronics market, the quantity of their carrying information resources becomes larger and larger. Perhaps general search engines have good performance in getting information in the aspect of quantity, but consumer electronics market is a rapid development market, the quality is more important than quantity in getting the information. Traditional search engine is lack of the ability to get High-quality information. In order to get more useful information, people invented the vertical search engine. Vertical search engine provides some valuable information and related services for a specific group of people in a particular field. Ontology is the abstract and description of the concept in the domain, the search engine based on ontology can achieve ontology retrieval, and it makes up the deficiency of general search engine based on keyword search. So combine the ontology with search engine technologies is a way to achieve better vertical search engine.In the beginning, this paper talks about the research status of the search engine, focus on vertical search engine technology, analyses the significance and necessity of combining the ontology with the vertical search engine, then introduces the definition, classification and description language of ontology. The paper makes a contrast on the methods of building ontology and designs a way to build the electronics domain ontology, and uses the Protege 3.3.1 to complete it. The paper presents the process to build electronics ontology based on Protege in details, gives a reference to build ontology in the similar domain.We develop a vertical search engine system based on our constructed ontology. We find that the semantic retrieval system based on ontology is more comprehensive and exact than the retrieval method based on keyword in the traditional way by analyzing circulation of the system. So it is very useful to research the issue of ontology-based vertical search engine.
