WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access), based on the IEEE 802.16 standard suite, adopts the technologies of OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), and plays an important role in the next generation of communication. With the limitation of frequency resources, the frequency factor of some of the WiMAX system is 1, so there is serious co-channel interference between different sectors. The technique of Power Control of the WiMAX can save the power of the transmitter and restrain the co-channel interference of the system. In this thesis we set up a WiMAX static system level simulation platform. Based on the platform we studied the performance of the WiMAX Power control. The main works we do are as follows:1. The thesis set up the WiMAX static system level simulation platform using MATLAB, and designed the important modules that influent the performance of the power control.2. In order to evaluate the power control using the WiMAX static system level simulation, this thesis adopted the iterative power control. Based on the iterative power control, this thesis simulated and analyzed the Uplink power control of the WiMAX.3. Based on the simulation and analysis, this thesis put forward a new power control method that divided the target SINR (The Ratio of Signal to Interference and Noise) into more parts. The simulation results show that this method decrease the interference of the WiMAX system effectively, and increase the throughput without the loss of coverage.4. This thesis also simulated the performance of WiMAX downlink power control.
