Power control is a technique in radio resource management. In the wireless MAN communication system, power control technology can be used to reduce co-channel interference and energy-saving devices, thereby it increases the system capacity, plays a very important role in the wireless communication system. How to apply the appropriate power control technology to wireless metropolitan area network plays an important role in wireless metropolitan area network.1This article will apply the path loss to the variable step power control algorithm, making the control of power control accuracy and convergence speed has been greatly enhanced.In addition Estimating of the uplink channel loss and the amount of noise pretreatment of the MS transmit power based on the downlink channel to prepared to adjust transsmion power of MS at once.2Analysing of each power control algorithm for the characteristics, the factors that affect the power control performance was pointed out.3Elabrating the relationship between the power control module and the other modules, and then completed the design of the power control message and the last the brief test environmental and power control test results.4About software development environment to build, and Describing briefly the basic architecture of wimax hardware development platform and how to build a software development environment.
