A mobile wireless Ad hoc network node has been presented and implemented for application in this paper. The node with high-speed embedded processor S3C2410A as its core, and FPGA of large storage and low power consumption as assistant processor, the node even benefited from RF chip nRF24L01 for fast wireless transmission. The principle and realization of each function block of the node were detailedly described, and the critical parameters such as communication range, power consumption and transmission rate have been measured, indicating that the wireless Ad hoc network node designed could satisfy the actual application. In addition, the process of developing BSP of VxWorks based on S3C2410A, including design procedures and specific implementation, was introduced. Then two MAC protocols, CSMA/CA and TDMA, were studied and implemented in our wireless network. Finally comparisons between them were made based on a series of measurements of their performance parameters, such as the packets loss rate, delay and throughput.
