Transmission characteristic of buses for vehicle communication systems was discussed in this paper. Problems of reliability and security were caused by more and more vehicle devises and various buses. The concept of broad buses for vehicle communication systems are presented, and the buses were categorized into three groups—data buses, radio frequency buses and power supply buses—according to the kinds of signals transmitted on the buses. The transmission characteristics of broad buses were study in the characteristic of signals and buses themselves.The general signal's frequency domain characteristic was confirmed by studying with random trapezoid waves, and on this basic, the changes of transmission characteristic due to the signal amplitude, coding types, and velocity were studied. Besides of the frequency domain characteristic of the RF signal, including analog signals, and the power supply signals, the inference of bandwidth, impedance, and pigtails of the buses to the transmission characteristic was analyzed. The restraining methods of ripples and the design of EMI power filter were detailedly studied. The conclusion has been used into correlative items, and proved to be greatly effective.
