Radar Cross Section (RCS) of microstrip patch antennas is analyzed in this dissertation. Furthermore the technique of miniaturization, multiple-aperture coupling, chip-resistor loading to reduce the RCS of microstrip antenna is discussed. Main contributions are summarized as follows.1. Firstly, the technique of miniaturization of two kinds of antennas (rectangular antenna and triangular antenna) is discussed. How to reduce the RCS of triangular antenna is researched.2. Secondly, the chip-resistor loading technique to reduce the RCS is analyzed. A new method which is on the basis of chip-resistor loading, slot-loading in the ground and miniaturization technique is introduced. According to the simulation and measured results, the RCS of the microstrip antenna is greatly reduced, while the radiating performance is well kept.3. Thirdly, how to reduce the RCS of aperture-coupled antenna is analyzed. A multiple-aperture-coupled technique and chip-resistor loading technique are introduced to reduce the RCS of the antenna. The measured results agree with the simulation very well, verifying that the method is valid.
