Research On The Layer 2 Expansion Technology Of MEN

Metro Ethernet Networks (MEN) is the key portion to connect access networks and backbone networks. The requirement of accessing to Internet is increasing, which leads to the expansion of MEN. During this process, the main problems to be solved are improving the robustness and transmission efficiency, decreasing the cost and enhancing the ability of providing real-time traffic. The work in this paper provides favorable technical foundation for the networks expansion and service application of MEN, thus has important practice value.Under the circumstances of networks expansion and real-time traffic increasing, this paper deeply analyzes the problems of how to enhance the robustness, how to increase the transmission efficiency, how to improve the competence to access real-time traffic and how to increase the robustness and transmission efficiency in different topologies, on condition that the existing topology structure and equipments of the MEN are utilized fully. Since enhancing the robustness will increase the networks cost and decrease the effective transmission efficiency at the same time, a model should be used to evaluate the integrated networks topology, in order that the networks scale will be reasonable, and also the networks transmission is effective. Finally this paper points out the improvement direction of the security and the expansion ability of MEN.
