Since the global positioning system (GPS) came into being, it has drawn extensive attention from various aspects. It boasts a number of meritorious characteristics, among which is its globality, all-weather running and real-time orientation. These qualities promise widespread applications of GPS in varied fields such as in military, mapping, transportation computation, environmental protection and atmospheric probe realms.This paper investigates and analyzes the current structure of the signal processing unit of GPS receiver and its realization modes. It is discovered that traditionary conducting navigation and positioning via software ask processor for higher performance. On the basis of the research into GPS positioning calculation principles, the author implements the whole positioning algorithm, which is responsible for GPS computation in the system. The author designs the structure of GPS DSP arcording to GPS algorithm and does the integrated cell-based-design. Moreover, this paper also provided elaborate explanations for the critical problems as floating point numbers computation, matrix inversion, trigonometric functions computation and so on in the design. Furthermore, the author's methodology has been proved accurate and effective in GPS positioning computation through experiment.
